Fire Hose Abrasion Alert

Abrasion Resistance: All hoses experience wear and tear when dragged. Type 1 hoses are recommended only for residential buildings with smooth floors. Type 2 hoses are recommended for commercial and industrial floors. Types 3 and 4 hoses are recommended for floors where greater abrasion resistance is desired. Type 5 hoses are recommended for highly abrasive floors.

Even when using the correct hose for the application, some precautions (contained in the Warranty Certificate and Instructions for Use, printed on the plastic bag/packaging) must be taken to ensure the product lasts longer:

  • Never drag the hose when it is partially full of water and without pressure, as this is the situation where the hose would be most vulnerable to puncture;
  • When the hose is pressurized, make sure that the pressure applied is sufficient to keep the hose rigid, before dragging it;
  • When bending the pressurized hose, pay attention to its minimum bending radius to avoid strangulation and the formation of protruding points subject to holes;
  • Avoid dragging the hose over abrasive or sharp edges or corners (e.g. concrete pillars, walls, etc.);
  • Never drag the hose rolled up and without pressure, as there are protruding points on the roll that are subject to holes.
